The Marlins are proclaimed champions of the XXI Canary Islands Sea Kayak Championship

The Lanzarote club won a total of 12 golds, 14 silvers and 11 bronzes in the tournament held this weekend on the Islote de Fermina

The Marlines de Lanzarote canoeing club was proclaimed regional champion in the XXI Canary Islands Sea Kayak Championship, which was held this Saturday, May 28 at the Islote de Fermina in Arrecife.

Almost 200 of the best paddlers from 9 Canary Island clubs enjoyed a spectacular day in the bay of the capital of Lanzarote. The athletes were surrounded by a large number of public who came to enjoy the event.

The races began at 10:15 in the morning, giving the first Champions of the Canary Islands. In the pre-Benjamin category, Lucía Clavijo was the winner in the women's section, and in the men's section, Locrelle was the winner, both from the Marlines de Lanzarote Canoeing Club. In Benjamin, Silvia Martín, from the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria, won in the women's category, and Kevin Gálvez from the Marlines won in the men's category.

 

In Alevines there was a double victory for the conejera, as Isabella García and Iriome Nieves won, both from the Marlines de Lanzarote. In the female Infantil B, Alejandra Mena, from the Club Amigos del Piragüismo, won, and in the male, Sebensui Batista, from the Onexe club, won. In the female Infantil A, Ariadne Gimenez from the Marlines got the first place, and in the male, Julián, from St Mary from the Club Amigos del Piragüismo, won.

In Cadets, Lara Cellier from the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria and Eloy Woelke from the Marlines de Lanzarote Canoeing Club were proclaimed Champions of the Canary Islands, while in the Youth category Brenda Pérez from the Club Amigos del Piragüismo and Airam Pacheco from the Marlines de Lanzarote did so.

Paula Ruíz and Pablo St Mary, both from the Club Amigos del Piragüismo, took the first places in the Sub23 category, and Judit Vergés and Víctor Rodríguez, also from the Club Amigos, won in Senior.

There were also veteran categories in the Canary Islands Championship: Víctor García from ULPGC won the first place in Veteran A; Jorge Alzola from the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria in Veteran B; Darwin Correa from Onexe in Veteran C; Juan Tomás Méndez, from the Club Deportivo Argonautas del Médano in Veteran D; Luis Antunez from the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria in Veteran E; Miguel Ergueta from the Club Amigos del Piragüismo in Veteran F; and Giada Cerniani from the Club Náutico de Fuerteventura in Veteran B female.

 

In the Popular Sub-18 categories, Luisa Ketelsen from the Marlines won in the women's category and Pablo Monzón, from the Club Amigos, in the men's category. On the other hand, in Popular +18, Yaiza Gargallo in the women's and Ramsés Luzardo in the men's, both from the Marlines, did so.

As for the classification by clubs, the Marlines de Lanzarote Canoeing Club with 1133 points was proclaimed Champion of the Canary Islands, in second position was the Club Amigos del Piragüismo with 887 points, and in third position, with 336 points, was the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria. As for the medal table, the Marlines obtained a total of 12 golds, 14 silvers and 11 bronzes, the Club Amigos 9 golds, 7 silvers and 6 bronzes and the Real Club Náutico 4 golds and 4 silvers.
