The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, congratulates the Marlines Canoeing Club, based in Arrecife, for being proclaimed Absolute Champions of Spain during this past weekend along with the 28 medals won by its canoeists.

The Marlines Canoeing Club of Lanzarote has once again made history in the Spanish Sea Kayak Championship 2025, held this weekend in Dénia (Alicante), which brought together more than 800 paddlers and 79 clubs from all over the country.

In that demanding national context, the Arrecife Club signed a brilliant performance where 79 boats participated, being proclaimed Absolute Champion of Spain, achieving the runner-up of Spain in the category of Young Promises and a meritorious third place in the Master classification.

Yonathan de León, who highlights that sailing continues to have the capital of Lanzarote as one of the great epicenters of Spain, has stressed that the Marlines "have reaffirmed their leadership by achieving a historic double: Champions of the XV National Sea Kayak League Absolute and Champions of the V National League of Young Promises, leading uninterruptedly since 2017".

The collective success was accompanied by an outstanding harvest of individual medals: a total of 28 metals (11 golds, 9 silvers and 8 bronzes), between individual tests, in pairs and inclusive formats.

For her part, the Councilor for Commerce, Tourism and Sports, Eli Merino, whose Areas support this club, within the close collaboration offered by the Arrecife City Council with the clubs and athletes of the municipality, is pleased that "through these external competitions the great possibilities offered by the Arrecife marina for the practice of nautical sports are projected abroad, where, in addition, it becomes the venue for many of these major sporting events on the Spanish, European or world calendar".
