The 'Magec Tías' faces one of the top teams in the Women's League 2

The red-and-blacks were defeated by 79 to 63 against Hierros Díaz Miralvalle Plasencia

Match between Hierros Díaz Miralvalle Plasencia and Magec Tías teams

The 'Magec Tías Contra la Violencia de Género' could not celebrate the end of the year 2023 with a victory and was left wanting, after losing to Hierros Díaz Miralvalle Plasencia by 79 to 63. The Lanzarote team, which traveled with only 8 players, suffered a tough defeat that leaves them in ninth place in the standings, with four wins and seven losses.

The match was very even during the first quarter, with alternatives on the scoreboard. The Hierros Díaz players had up to nine points of advantage after a 9-0 run, but the islanders were able to recover to finish the first quarter 20 to 17. In the second period, the Lanzarote team made things difficult for the home team, with a zero to eight run that served to turn the score around again. Hierros Díaz reached halftime with a nine-point lead, 43 to 34.

Upon returning to the court, it was a want to but can't for the Lanzarote team, who were looking to reduce the difference, but were met with opposition from the peninsular team. The score reached a difference of up to thirteen points for the home team, but although the islanders fought as much as possible, they reduced the score to 57 to 47, saving the rest of the fight for the last quarter. Jesús García asked for one more effort from the Magec Tías players, who had left everything on the court, to seek the comeback and it seemed that they could achieve it when they were gradually cutting the difference on the scoreboard. However, an unexpected ankle injury to Marta Pérez diminished her for the rest of the match and after the effort made by all the players, the home team recovered again.

The Hierros Díaz players were not surprised and managed to defeat the Lanzarote team by 79 to 63. Verónica Matoso and Carolina Mateo played all 40 minutes, while Joana Ferreira and Ana Fernández spent more than 30 minutes on the court. The Magec Tías Contra la Violencia de Género will now stop the competition until January 7, when they will receive the visit of Mariscos Antón Cortegada. Now they will face the Christmas break hoping to recover strength for the next year.
