The surfer from Lanzarote, Dylan Donegan, has become the new SUB16 surfing world champion, as published this Monday by the Surf30 website. After the ISA World Junior Surfing Championship competition held in El Salvador from May 3 to May 12, 2024.
With the award, the young surfer has thus taken over the gold medal won by his teammate Hans Odriozola last year. In addition, Donegan has been the winner of each and every one of the seven heats surfed during the past week, Surf30 has reported.
After collecting the award, Doregan was very excited about the recognition. "I'm very, very happy," said the surfer. "It feels incredible. Even qualifying for the Spanish team is very, very difficult. I haven't thought about it yet, I guess I'll have to do it and enjoy the moment and when I realize it, I'll probably go crazy," he said.
Leaving aside the winner, also another Lanzarote native, Sol Borelli, was less than one point away from the final in the surfing championship.
