The Pajaritos Playas de Tuineje Sports Club organized last weekend the Canary Islands U19, Senior and Popular Badminton Championship, with the presence in the event of several players from the Lanzarote Raqueta Club, who left the island quite high, achieving a total of five medals, one bronze, two silver and two gold.

Ainara Yoana Olivero and Irene Rodríguez won the silver medal in the U19 women's doubles category, after achieving two victories in the group stage and defeating in the semifinals the local couple formed by Alexia Domínguez and Daniela Ramos. The victory of the Lanzarote players, by 28-26 and 23-21, led them to the final, falling in it against Sulimar Cabrera and Laura de León, from Tenzul El Rosario, by 21-19 and 21-11, bringing the silver medal to the island.

Individually, both players managed to access the final phase after qualifying in their respective competition groups. Ainara Yoana Olivero faced Sulimar Cabrera in the quarterfinals, with victory for the Tenerife player by 21-8 and 21-6, while Irene Rodríguez managed to reach the final. The Lanzarote player defeated Alba Melián from Majorca by 21-3 and 21-11 in the quarterfinals, and Noah Melián, also from Majorca, by 21-12 and 21-11 in the semifinals, winning in the decisive match against Sulimar Cabrera by 21-19 and 21-13, thus achieving the Canary Islands Championship.

Adrián Carabali and Daniel Martín shared a double match in the U19 men's doubles category. After passing the group stage with two wins and one loss, they faced Sergio Alonso and Dailo Torres, from CB Los Hinojeros de Granadilla, in the semifinals, with the Tenerife players winning by 21-5 21-13, having to settle for the bronze medal for the Lanzarote Raqueta Club couple.

Adrián Carabali, for his part and individually, participated in the U19 men's category and, after passing the group beating Guise Curbelo, faced Izan Castrillo in the round of 16, with the player of the Club Deportivo Ohada Flick winning by 21-10 and 21-17 and removing the Lanzarote player. Daniel Martín also participated individually in the U19 men's category, but could not pass the group stage, falling in both matches, leaving him without the option to fight for the medals.

In the senior men's category, Jorge Oliverio Pérez and Francisco Javier Caraballo participated, both in pairs and individually. In pairs, the players of the Lanzarote Raqueta Club were runners-up of the Canary Islands after winning three of the four matches they played, while individually Jorge Oliverio Pérez could not access the final draw after being eliminated in the group stage and Francisco Javier Caraballo won the Canary Islands Championship of the category after defeating the local Juan Domingo Cabrera and the Tenerife player José Miguel Hernández by 21-9 21-13 and 21-10 21-12, respectively.

With this event, the Lanzarote Raqueta Club puts an end to the competition in the year 2022 and begins to think about the year 2023, starting with the Island Games of Sports Promotion on January 14 and January 21 and the first round of the First Division Bronze League in Huelva, which will be on January 28 and 29, without leaving behind the grassroots work in the different municipalities of the island, the local, regional and national competitions, as well as many new developments that will be discovered as the dates go by.
