The Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen sees the light after winning in Navarra

Match corresponding to the twenty-fourth and penultimate matchday of the women's División de Honor Oro

Puerto del Carmen en Pamplona

Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen achieved an important victory this Saturday at the Pabellón Anaitasuna in Pamplona on their visit to Anaitasuna (26-29) in a match corresponding to the twenty-fourth and penultimate round of the women's División de Honor Oro.

With two matchdays left to play, the tiñoseras leave the relegation zone and place twelfth in the standings with fifteen points. To the tiñosera victory is added the defeat of all teams that can still be affected by relegation, Zaragoza lost at Pozuelo's home (26-20), Mislata fell at Caja Rural Cleba's home (31-29) and Pereda did so at home against Bolaños (22-28). Another of the teams involved in the fight for permanence, Lleida will play its match against Córdoba this Sunday. After this Saturday's defeat, the Navarrese of Anaitasuna occupy the eighth position with nineteen points.

Las tiñoseras, who incorporated pivot Susana Martín after Grethe Damora's injury, started with a certain equality on the scoreboard in the first minutes, but managed to take the lead from the twentieth minute of the first half (9-10), reaching halftime four goals up (10-14).

In the second half, the locals found themselves unable to reduce the gap while Puerto del Carmen managed to reach the end with enough of a lead to achieve an important victory that takes them out of the relegation zone after many weeks of some anguish.

The player Brenda Torres became the top scorer of the match with six goals, the same number as two local players, Alba Jurado and Daniela Natale.

For the tiñosero coach, Jesús Casanova, it has been "a very serious game from the team, especially defensively, very well accompanied by the goalkeeping. It is true that in the first few minutes we missed clear shots, but then, from minute ten or fifteen, the team started to function, to transition on the counter-attacks with more order, achieving shooting situations. The balls started to go in and, little by little, we increased the leads, based, above all, on good defense. The opponent, as we had foreseen, presented us, especially in the second half, with several defensive alternatives, all with advanced defenses, type 2-4, 3-3 and so on. But well, as we had more or less foreseen that could happen, we knew how to attack them well. At times we got stuck, but we were always able to maintain the score until the final phase of the game, where it is true that they cut our lead by two or three goals, but I think we never saw the result in danger. Now we have to wait for Saturday's game which, with the results that have occurred, if we are lucky enough to win that game, I think we can celebrate one more year in Oro and remain in the category. In any case, we have to give time to time, keep working as we are doing and see what we can achieve on Saturday," concluded the coach of Puerto del Carmen.

On the penultimate matchday, the twenty-fifth, Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen will play at home again, which will be the last home game of the season. They will host Bm. IKasa Boadilla at the Municipal de Tías, a team that this week won in the visit of the last classified, AD Carballal (30-28) and occupies the sixth position with twenty-seven points to its credit and with nothing at stake. It will be next Saturday, May 2, at 18:00 hours.
