Lanzarote's chess returned from the Canary Islands Championship with very good feelings, after winning two golds in the under 14 category, both in the female and male sections.

Julius Pleschke, from the Tinajo Chess School, and Katharina Bangiev from the Esacan Cacharros team, are the chess players who have been proclaimed champions of the Canary Islands in their category. It should be noted that it is the first time in the history of chess in Lanzarote that two Canary Islands champion titles have been achieved in the same season.

As champions of the Canary Islands, Julius Pleschke and Katharina Bangiev qualify to participate, representing the chess of the Archipelago, in the Spanish Under 14 Championships that will be held from July 17 to 23 in the Granada town of Salobreña

The Lanzarote expedition was made up of 15 players, 6 of them students from the Chess Schools of the Cacharros Association, both in Arrecife and Tinajo.

The monitor Antonio González Borges, professor at the Tinajo Chess School, traveled to Tenerife with the Lanzarote expedition.
