The IX Villa de Teguise Rally began on Friday afternoon at the Agrotechnological Complex with the technical checks, which took place between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. After this process, the organization met with the drivers and co-drivers of the 43 registered teams, although ultimately 38 will be taking the start this Saturday in the timed sections.
Five significant withdrawals were recorded: teams with numbers 4, 17, 28, 31, and 36. The most notable absence is that of number 4, the Avella-Alemán team, who, after completing the reconnaissance, withdrew from the competition due to a health problem. Their withdrawal is a disappointment for Lanzarote fans, who were hoping to see the Alpine A110 GT+ in action.
During the briefing, the president of Manguia Motor Sport, Gerardo Rodríguez, welcomed the participants, followed by the speech of the race director, Acaymo Reyes. He recalled key points of the regulations, such as the correct use of chicanes, refueling rules at gas stations, and the exclusive circulation of rally vehicles on the LZ-30 road, still under construction and closed to general traffic.
The day continued with the traditional group photo and the raffle of a weekend trip to Fuerteventura, courtesy of the organization. The prize went to team number 26, made up of Daniel Peña and Adriá Muñoz, behind the wheel of a BMW 325i.
