The Insular League of 5-Meter Latin Sailboats is in the final stretch of the season, with the celebration of two final weekends of competition, which will serve to determine the champion and the thirteen boats that qualify for the Canary Islands Championship of Canary Latin Sailboats. The competition resumes this weekend with the dispute of a double regatta, belonging to the eighth and ninth tests of the season.
The boats were left without being able to compete two weeks ago, when the celebration of the seventh day of the League and the recovery of the fourth regatta were planned. The little wind prevailing in the bay of Arrecife and the continuous changes in direction did not allow the Regatta Committee to establish a stable race course, with the boats returning to the Insular Center for Nautical Sports.
El Playa Blanca leads the classification of the Insular League of 5-Meter Latin Sailboats, with a ten-point advantage over Jameos del Agua. In third position in the classification is El Romerito and the fight is also intense to know the boats qualified for the Canary Islands Championship.
The wind forecasts for Sunday point to the possibility of disputing the two scheduled regattas. The wind will blow from the north with a medium intensity of 10 knots, reaching gusts of 14 knots. Without a doubt, optimal conditions for sailing and where the strategy when choosing the sail to use will be fundamental.
The Insular Center for Nautical Sports, in Marina Colón, will once again be the nerve center of Latin sailing on Sunday morning and the first test of the day is scheduled to start at 11:00 AM. The two regattas can be followed live through the Facebook page of the Insular Federation of Lanzarote Latin Sailboats.
