This Saturday, the social venue of Tinajo became the epicenter of grassroots chess in Lanzarote with the celebration of the Island Championship Sub-8 and Sub-10. The talents of the island demonstrated their skill on the board in a vibrant tournament, where the concentration of the young people and the passion for the game were evident in each game.
In the Sub-8 category, the top three finishers were Mateo Álamo Melián, Rubén Morales Acuña and Omar Devora Martín. Meanwhile, in the Sub-10 category, the podium was occupied by Xien Lin, Hugo Ramírez Ramos and Mauricio López Arévalo
For their part, the best female players of the tournament were Irene Betancort Brito (Sub-8) and Blanca Sandoval Herrera (Sub-10).
With this result, the young chess players will represent Lanzarote in those that will be held in June. An event in which they will have the opportunity to measure their talent with the best of each island and continue growing in the exciting world of chess.
