Fight on the Tías football field

The boards of directors of the C.F. Puerto del Carmen and C.F. Sporting Tías football clubs issued a joint statement on November 30 to settle the conflict between both teams after a fight in a Preferential Youth League match. At the beginning of the statement, both rejected the events that occurred.

"Sport provides a unique platform to promote the values of dialogue and intercultural understanding and thus helps social inclusion and gender equality," the text to which La Voz has had access began.

In this line, the teams have highlighted that "it is not about looking for the culprit or culprits of these acts but about working towards zero violence in the sport that unites us and for which we work day by day".

Both teams have announced that they are starting a "joint collaboration" with the Department of Sports of the Tías City Council, in which they invite other clubs that want to join, to work on different campaigns against violence in sports.

Both C.F. Puerto del Carmen and Sporting Tías have apologized for the image offered in the match, "to fans, parents, the refereeing establishment, the Interinsular Football Federation of Las Palmas, the municipality and all those affected."

"Our identities involve promoting values based on respect for the opponent and fair play," the statement concluded.
