The 'Club de Judo Costa Teguise Lanzarote' (CJCT) successfully participated last weekend in Tenerife in the 'Spanish Cup' for the Children and Cadet categories, achieving 8 medals and a fifth place. A total of fourteen athletes from the club's youth academy, many of whom were making their debut in national competition, faced judokas from all over Spain, which once again demonstrates the teguiseño club's "unwavering" commitment to the youth academy of judo in Lanzarote.

The result was "quite good" with a total of five gold medals, two silver medals, one bronze medal plus a fifth place and diploma, which confirms, according to the director of the CJCT, Antonio Ramírez, “the remarkable youth academy of the Club de Judo Costa Teguise that, for sure, will continue working and giving good future results together with its coaches and teachers. It is worth highlighting the good role played by the child Asier Morales Cubas who, in the +66 kg category, managed to win in the five fights he played until he won the gold medal and became Champion of the Spanish Cup”.

“It must be highlighted”, continues Ramírez, “that the Tenerife competition has had a good organization and a remarkable participation of our club with almost fifteen judokas, a magnificent youth academy for which we are fully committed. With time and hard work, these young athletes will acquire a greater experience that can only be acquired by traveling and participating in high-level events".

"It is an experience that is necessary, especially in the cadet category". In Tenerife, the innovative formula has been used in Children that divides them into Promises; and Elite; which, in our opinion, ensures a better and greater equality among those who are starting in the universe of competition. I can only congratulate our representatives as well as their coaches and families”, concludes Antonio Ramírez.
