The Canarian wrestling season is coming to an end and on Friday night, the final of the X Mamerto Cabrera Medina Super Cup was held at the Ulpiano Rodríguez Pérez Municipal Arena, pitting CL Tao against CL Unión Sur Yaiza. CL Tao gained an important advantage in their early bouts and the wrestlers of CL Unión Sur Yaiza equalized the fight. The "C" Destacado Álvaro Torres was decisive in his team's victory, eliminating Raúl Caraballo and the "B" Destacado Kevin González.
CL Tao established a significant lead in the score in their early bouts, forcing the manager of CL Unión Sur Yaiza to react upon seeing his rival pull ahead with a clear 1-6 on the scoreboard. José Andrés Hernández, after drawing in bouts with Nareme Umpiérrez, won the third when his opponent committed four warnings. Echedey Acuña defeated Uriel Díaz in two straight bouts, and Romén Marrero won bout by bout against Raúl Fontes.
The first point for Unión Sur Yaiza came from the bout between Alejandro Martín and Romén Marrero, with both wrestlers being eliminated by three warnings in the first bout. Echedey Acuña defeated Fernando Godoy in two straight bouts, and José Andrés Hernández, with one bout in his favor, eliminated Martín García who committed his fourth warning in the second bout.
The entry of the Destacados from CL Unión Sur Yaiza into the fray allowed the match to be tied. Fernando Godoy defeated Omar Salah in two straight bouts and was subsequently eliminated along with Alberto Brito, after both wrestlers committed three warnings in the first bout. The "B" Destacado Juan Miguel Cruz defeated Echedey Acuña and José Andrés Hernández in two straight bouts, and the "B" Destacado Kevin González did the same to Rubén Barrios and Marcos Martín, tying the score at seven.
The "C" Destacado Sixto Rodríguez put CL Tao back in the lead, defeating Víctor González in two straight bouts. Roberto Barrios and Miguel Reyes were mutually eliminated in the first bout with three warnings, and Juan Miguel Cruz tied the match again by defeating Paquito Reyes in two straight bouts (9-9).
CL Unión Sur Yaiza took the lead for the first time. The "B" Destacado Kevin González, after a split decision in the first bout, won the second against the "C" Destacado Sixto Rodríguez. The "C" Destacado Álvaro Torres managed to tie the fight, defeating Raúl Caraballo in two straight bouts. And in one of the key matchups of the night, Juan Miguel Cruz won the first bout against Rafa Elvira, the "A" Destacado of CL Tao tied in the second, and the third bout between them ended in a split decision (11-11).
The final of the X Mamerto Cabrera Medina Memorial was decided by the bout between the "B" Destacado Kevin González and the "C" Destacado Álvaro Torres. The CL Tao wrestler surprised his opponent in the first bout, and in the second, after defending against Kevin González's attacks, Álvaro Torres once again brought his opponent to the ground.
The X Mamerto Cabrera Medina Memorial also hosted a Women's Challenge, with a bout between Gara Berriel and Ariadna Toledo, wrestlers from CL Tinecheide. In a best-of-five bouts match, Ariadna Toledo defeated Gara Berriel in the first, third, and fourth bouts.
The presidents of all the clubs in Lanzarote and the Insular Federation of Canarian Wrestling of Lanzarote presented the Cabrera Medina family with a token of appreciation for their unconditional support of Canarian wrestling. Mamerto Cabrera and Juan Monzón were responsible for presenting the championship trophy of the Mamerto Cabrera Medina Memorial to the captain of CL Tao.
