The Yaiza City Council has ceded the Deportes Yaiza boat to the La Revirada Sports Club to reinforce the promotion of Latin sailing in the south of Lanzarote and the competitive presence of the five-meter Playa Blanca boat fleet in the Latin Sailing Cup of the South and in all the events of the island calendar. In fact, Deportes Yaiza will already be in the fifth edition of the southern competition that starts this Sunday, June 15 (11:00 a.m.), with Bruno Medina at the helm and responsible for CD La Revirada, who proudly displayed the newly restored municipal boat together with the mayor, Óscar Noda, and the Yaiza Sports Councilor, Ángel Lago.

Óscar Noda emphasizes that "we invested 15,000 euros from the municipal budget in the repair of the boat and purchase of material, thus reaffirming our commitment to the native sport of Latin sailing in homage to the maritime tradition of the town." Along with Deportes Yaiza, representing Playa Blanca in the South Cup, are the boats: Playa Blanca, Bernasan, Playa Dorada and Tritón, current champion of the Latin Sailing Cup of the South.

"The boat was restored by the Lanzarote craftsman and shipwright, Santiago González, and we left it in very good hands, because Bruno Medina and his entire crew are part of the Latin sailing family and are aware of the cultural and heritage value that the boat represents," notes the Sports Councilor, Ángel Lago. The Latin Sailing Cup of the South has 18 boats registered from Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
