The XIV César Manrique RCNA – Calero Marinas Trophy experienced its second and final day this Saturday, with the third and last regatta of Lanzarote that would finish defining the winners by categories. The regatta field, installed between Playa Honda and El Cable, once again offered very favorable conditions for navigation, allowing the crews to enjoy an exciting competition.
The day began with a slight delay, as the Arrecife regatta committee, with Chief Officer Fátima Cerezo at the helm, decreed a postponement at 11:00 a.m. due to lack of wind. Just 25 minutes later, the start was given to a test designed for three laps.
Once the tests were finished, the awards ceremony for this fourteenth edition of this trophy began. With the presence of Mr. José Calero, president of Calero Marinas, Mr. Julio Romero, president of the Real Club Nautico de Arrecife, Francisco Olivares representing the Canary Islands Sailing Federation, and from the public institutions we had Mr. Oscar López and Mr. Roberto Herbón from the Arrecife City Council and Mr. Juan Monzón, councilor of the Sports area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote.
By categories, the list of winners of the César Manrique RCNA- Calero Marinas Trophy was as follows:
In ORC 4-5, in third place, the Alzenit (RCGC), in second place the Papoa by Ana Acevedo (Independent) and in first place the Maeña 9 (RCN Tenerife) by Andrés Monje.
The ORC 3 category was dominated from start to finish by the Solum – Aedas Homes by Lucio Pérez Aranaz (R.C.N. Tenerife), who took the victory in the three races held. The Butxaca by Joaquín Blanco Roca (R.C.N. Gran Canaria) signed three second places to take the silver, and the Tamy by José Manuel Onieva (R.C.N. Arrecife) completed the podium with a total of 11 points.
In the ORC 0-2 category, the victory went to the Teguise – Lanzarote Sailing by José Miguel Cabrera (R.C.N. Arrecife), who signed two first places and one second to win the triumph with authority. The Muyay by Domingo Negrín Armas (R.C.N. Arrecife) secured second place, while the Cachito by Augusto Escolar (Marina Rubicón) completed the podium after being conditioned by an abandonment.
The Muyay boat also won the award for the mixed crew.
After the competition, the awards ceremony took place and the organization prepared a barbecue for the crews, where there was time to comment on what happened at sea and share the experience. To put the finishing touch, the Clavelitos group and DJ CHK put the musical and festive note to the closing of this edition of the César Manrique RCNA – Calero Marinas Trophy.
