The Alfajarín Master, an N4 level tournament that took place in the U15 and U19 categories, focused the attention of Canarian badminton this past weekend, with the participation of four players. An event in which Tenzul El Rosario and CB Tenerife were represented, achieving a great performance throughout the competition day. Sulimar Cabrera (Tenzul El Rosario) won the bronze medal in the individual modality and took silver alongside Mencía Pérez in the women's doubles of the U19 category.
To Aragon traveled the members of two clubs from the Canary Islands to participate in the Alfajarín Master. Canarian badminton was represented in this tournament with the participation of Sulimar Cabrera, Mateo de Luis and Pedro García, members of Tenzul El Rosario, and was completed with the presence of Javier Peña, player of CB Tenerife.
Sulimar Cabrera, a player who started as the number 5 seed in the U19 women's category, in the group stage achieved victory against Anandita Luthra (21-11, 21-13) and Carmen Gómez (21-9, 21-7). In the quarterfinals, the player from Tenerife defeated Polina Prykhodko (21-19, 21-19), and was defeated in the semifinals by Belén Soto (17-21, 15-21), winning the bronze medal at the Alfajarín Master.
The Tenzul El Rosario player competed in the women's doubles of the U19 category alongside Mencía Pérez (Oviedo), achieving the silver medal. In the group stage, they defeated Ana Esther Martín – Paola Vallelado (21-8, 21-16) and Marina Díaz – Rocío González (21-9, 21-11). In the grand final, they were defeated by Nuria Serra – Belén Soto (17-21, 14-21).
The Canarian Badminton Federation congratulates the players of Tenzul El Rosario and CB Tenerife who were present this past weekend at the Alfajarín Master, and especially, Sulimar Cabrera for the two medals won. Canarian badminton continues to be one of the national benchmarks, and its good work was once again demonstrated in the tournament held in Aragon.
