On Saturday night, the Real Club Náutico closed the 72nd San Ginés Regatta with the awards ceremony, which was attended by the president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Mariano Hernández Zapata, who received the affection of all the sailors.
The event, presided over by Julio Romero, president of the RCNA, was attended by the vice-president of the Cabildo, Marcos Bergaz; the Minister of Sports, Alfredo Mendoza, and the Councilor for Sports of Arrecife, Rosmen Quevedo. They were accompanied by military authorities, representatives of the different participating yacht clubs and of the Royal Canarian Sailing Federation.
Prizes were awarded to the top three finishers in each class and the overall winner, as well as the red lantern to the last finisher and a distinction to the best classified female crew.
The president of the RCNA presented the president of the Cabildo de La Palma with a souvenir (from volcano to volcano) with the Devil of Timanfaya on volcanic lava. Hernández Zapata thanked all the sailors and attendees for their support.
After the event, a buffet dinner was offered and then the chalanistas' dance was held.
