The Auria Badminton Club achieves promotion to the First Division Bronze

The regularity has allowed the Lanzarote club the promotion of category in the National League

The town of Villanueva de la Torre, in Guadalajara, hosted this past weekend the fourth and final round of the Second Division Gold of the National Badminton League, in which Auria Bádminton Club was present. The Lanzarote team arrived at the last event of the season leading the standings and, despite suffering two defeats in the matches played, Auria Bádminton Club achieved promotion to the First Division Bronze of the National Club League. 

Auria Bádminton Club began the final round with a defeat on Saturday against Albatros, losing by a narrow 3 to 4. The mixed doubles team formed by Martín Barbado and Zeneida Ortiz was defeated by Mateo Higueras – Jimena Alonso (10-11, 7-11, 10-11), as was the women's doubles team of Margot Barbosa and Laura María Solis against Jimena Alonso – Kristina Stanislavova (8-11, 8-11, 8-11). Martín Barbado and Miguel Barbado secured the first point in the men's doubles, defeating Samuel Rodríguez – Marcos Romero (9-11, 10-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-7). 

In the women's singles, Sara Vianelli tied the match by defeating Daniela Rodríguez (11-6, 11-5, 11-9). Albatros tipped the victory in the match with wins from Samuel Rodríguez over Samuel Tarife (10-11, 4-11, 9-11) and Kristina Stanislavova against Margot Barbosa (7-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-8, 8-11). Miguel Barbado closed the match by adding the point at stake against Marcos Romero (11-8, 11-10, 5-11, 11-7). 

On Sunday, Auria Bádminton Club faced RSL Candelaria and, as on the previous day, the Lanzarote team suffered a 3-4 defeat. Samuel Tarife and Zeneida Ortiz were defeated in the mixed doubles against Abel Busto-Silvia Mon (9-11, 9-11, 10-11). Laura María Solis and Sara Vianelli tied the match in the women's doubles, with a victory over Nuria Álvarez – Carla González (11-8, 11-10, 11-6), and Martín Barbado and Miguel Barbado added the second point in the men's doubles, with a win over Darío Dámaso – Thibault Thomas (11-10, 11-10, 10-11, 8-11, 11-6). 

Margot Barbosa added the third point in the women's singles, defeating Analia Sabela Villabona (11-7, 11-7, 11-3). In the last three matches, Martín Barbado was defeated by Abel Busto (8-11, 11-8, 11-3, 3-11, 7-11), Sara Vianelli lost to Silvia Mon (8-11, 10-11, 11-6, 6-11) and Miguel Barbado could not overcome Thibault Thomas (11-4, 6-11, 10-11, 9-11). 

Despite the two losses, the Auria Bádminton Club concludes its participation in the Segunda División Oro classified in second position and achieving promotion to the Primera División Bronce of the National League of Clubs. In this way, the club fulfills the objective it had set at the beginning of the season, competing next season in the third national category of Spanish badminton.
