The countdown has ended. Seven years after their last participation, between July 24 and 26, the Lanzarote pilot Alexis Romero returns to the Baja España Aragón GETAC Trophy, one of the most prestigious and demanding rally raid events on the international scene, where he will once again measure himself against the best specialists in the world in an edition that will bring together the elite of the discipline.
With bib number 332, Romero will team up with Álvaro Valduérteles at the controls of the new Herrator Inzane 901, a mount with which the pair faces a significant qualitative leap to compete in a scoring event for the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Bajas, the FIA European Cup for Cross-Country Bajas, and the GT2i Spanish Championship for All-Terrain Rally Raids. The Baja España Aragón will also count towards the FIM Bajas World Cup for motorcycles and will feature, once again, the spectacular truck category.
Romero and Valduérteles will compete under the colors of Escudería Lanzarote, taking the name of Lanzarote to a competition considered the European benchmark for Baja-type cross-country rallies and one of the most prestigious events worldwide.
The province of Teruel will once again become the epicenter of international motorsport, hosting the 42nd edition of a race whose success is based on a spectacular route, with unique landscapes and ideal terrain for rally raid. The sporting program will consist of three days of competition, distributed in a prologue stage and two long special stages, with hundreds of timed kilometers that will test both the endurance of the teams and the reliability of the mechanics.
For Alexis Romero, the debut of the Herrator Inzane 901 comes in the most demanding scenario possible. Facing some of the official teams and most outstanding drivers on the international scene, the objective will be to complete an intelligent race, continue adapting to the new mount, and take advantage of this event to continue growing as an athlete.
“Returning to Baja España Aragón after seven years is a huge motivation” Alexis Romero faces the return with enthusiasm and his feet on the ground: “It is a unique race, with an extraordinary sporting level, and doing it with a new vehicle represents an even greater challenge.”
The main objective of the rabbit hunter will be to “maintain a constant and competitive pace the Herrator Inzane 901” for the duration of the test, in which he will try to “fight for a good result within our category” although for him “the most important thing will be to complete a race without errors and enjoy one of the best tests in the world."
With this participation, Alexis Romero begins a new sporting stage with a completely renewed mount and the firm intention of continuing to consolidate his progression in the world of raids, with one of the most emblematic competitions on the international calendar as a backdrop.
