Saray Hernández, from La Conejera, runner-up in the Canary Islands, has qualified to play in the Spanish Petanque Championship. The sporting event will take place on April 19 in Almería (Andalusia).
Saray Hernández has assured La Voz that she has been playing Canarian bowls and petanque for around 12 or 13 years. Thus, after this classification she is "super happy" to be able to go to the national championship of this sport.
"There is a great level in the Canary Islands and qualifying for the Spanish championship has been a very satisfactory achievement, the truth is," she revealed to this editorial team.
Saray Hernández came across Canarian bowls when she was 15 years old. The conejera accompanied her father to the Club Huerta Vieja in the town of Uga. There she stayed watching how they played and one day she trained with them if someone was missing. At that time, the colleagues from the same club told her that if they wanted to try to participate in the women's category of the club and since then she has played in the Club Lanzarote Tropical.
