The Lanzarote International Beach Volleyball Tournament concluded this Sunday with a resounding success, after three intense days of competition that began last Friday. The event brought together more than six hundred players and more than 1,500 matches were played, establishing itself as a national benchmark in this sport.
The twenty-second edition of the Lanzarote International Beach Volleyball Tournament exceeded all records, with the registration of more than 600 players. A tournament that has crossed all borders, with more than 15 nationalities represented and highlighting the presence of players from Macedonia, Lithuania, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia,
Mexico, Poland, Germany, Cuba, Italy, Cape Verde, Russia, Germany or England, among others. In addition, there was also a high participation of national players displaced from
Madrid, Barcelona, Cantabria, Extremadura, Andalusia or Mallorca.
The tournament culminated with exciting finals in various categories. Achieving victory in mixed platinum, a competition where parents and children played, the majoreros Antonio Dovero and
Ilelziabheri Dodero, who defeated María Ruiz and José Fortes from Tenerife in the final.
In mixed bronze the victory was for Carla García and Javier García, in female bronze for Karla Alvarado and Bárbara Marrero from Cadiz and in male bronze for the Italian
Daniele Pezzella and David García. In mixed silver, the German Cindy Horn and the Venezuelan Carlos Pérez won, in female silver Débora Silva and Fátima Mesa from Seville and in
male silver Luis Cabrera and Álvaro Rivero from Gran Canaria.
The finals, where the most consistent teams throughout the tournament were, did not disappoint. In the mixed gold final, the Colombian Valentina Loaiza and the Italian, based in Fuerteventura, Filippo Brentegani faced Sergio Camacho and Lucy Monteiro from Gran Canaria. Although Valentina and Filippo won the first set, Sergio and Lucy
came back to take the title with a score of 1 to 2.
The women's gold final also had Valentina and Lucy as protagonists. Lucy, together with María Sevillano, defeated the couple formed by Valentina and Elena Falcón from Tenerife. The
first set was very disputed, but finally fell on the side of María and Lucy, who dominated the second set to win 2-0.
The last match of the tournament was starred by the Canarian duo formed by Orlando Pérez from Lanzarote and Filippo Brentegani, who faced José
Osado from Extremadura and Guillermo Gómez from Madrid. The peninsulars won the first set of a very even match, while the second set went to the islanders. The decisive set
was full of emotion and high quality plays, and finally Orlando Pérez and Filippo Brentegani won 2 to 1, revalidating their title of champions.
Throughout the event, the players enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere full of passion for beach volleyball, accompanied by the music of DJ Kiki Sánchez, who encouraged the
tribune with an excellent musical selection. The Lanzarote International Beach Volleyball Tournament, which celebrates its 22nd edition, continues to be a benchmark in the sports calendar
national. The organization is already working on improving and expanding the event for future editions, without losing the essence that has characterized it for more than two decades.
