Puerto del Carmen returns empty-handed from their visit to CD Guiniguada Apolinario

Jack Talbot's players deserved more in a match where the goals came in the second half

One of Puerto del Carmen's matches during the season

FC Puerto del Carmen was defeated by 3 goals to 1 in their visit to the Municipal Field of Parque Atlántico in Gran Canaria, where they visited CD Guiniguada Apolinario in the match of the sixth day of the First National Women's Division.

The match was quite even between the two teams. The players trained by Jack Talbot had an exceptional first half, where the defensive work stood out above the attack, making it difficult for them to leave their field, but doing a good job of containment during the first 20 minutes.

From there, the Lanzarote team gradually managed to shake off the dominance to which they were being subjected and equalized the forces in the center of the field. The clearest chances for the Tiñoseras came in the boots of Alicia and Janet, who could not define two excellent chances, sending the ball away from the rival goalkeeper's goal.

With the score tied at zero, the break of the match arrived, with the players receiving new instructions for the second half. The players from Gran Canaria made a modification before starting the second 45 minutes, while the Lanzarote players took to the field with the same team that had finished the first half.

The match continued to be quite even, until fortune was on the local side. After a throw-in and a bad clearance by the Lanzarote defense, the ball fell into the boots of Katy who looked for the shot on goal, touching the ball on a Tiñosera player deflecting the trajectory of the ball, without Naza being able to rectify and avoid the goal.

The British coach of the Lanzarote team brought on Eva Sánchez to try to gain more muscle in the center of the field, but without time for her to participate, the second goal of the local team arrived, after a free kick that Naza failed to stop, lodging the ball in the back of the net.

The Lanzarote team moved the bench again, with players who would give more offensive than defensive contribution and try to reduce differences and put the Palm team in trouble. However, the third goal of the locals arrived in the last bars of the match after a corner kick, with Nairoa heading in at the far post, beating the visiting goalkeeper again.

Before the end of the match came the goal for the Lanzarote team through Haimara who managed to score from the penalty spot to reduce the difference. Although time was short and the opponent had one less player due to an expulsion in added time, the players of FC Puerto del Carmen tried to get some more goals, finding the defensive opposition of the Gran Canaria team.

With the result of 3 to 1 the match concluded. Now the First National Women's Division will not have a match next weekend, although FC Puerto del Carmen will take the opportunity to play the postponed match of the third day against CD Achamán on Saturday, October 22.
