Playa Blanca vibrated with joy this Saturday at its Music Run Night, a party prepared for five hundred athletes, both amateurs and professionals of different ages, and hundreds of residents, neighbors, and visitors who enjoyed the start of the Christmas season together through sport in Lanzarote's first tourist hub. This is the spirit of the night race that was born more than five years ago in Playa Blanca and is also celebrated in the Lanzarote municipalities of Tías and Haría, and on the island of La Palma, in its capital Santa Cruz, turning the event into a regional series.
In the purely sporting aspect, Tinguaro Quintero and Elizabet Perdomo not only revalidated their victory achieved in 2024, in the long distance of 10 kilometers, but also confirmed with this triumph in Playa Blanca their reign in the Music Run Night Series 2025. Tinguaro Quintero launched himself from Avenida Papagayo and did not slow down until he clocked a time of 35:43 minutes, while the southerner Elizabet Perdomo also did not give her rivals too many options and crossed the finish line stopping the clock at 46:27 minutes.
Accompanying the winners on the podium were, in the men's category, Alberto Arbera (36:13 m) and José Fernández (36:14), and in the women's category, Monika Christine (49:55 m) and Lucía Hernández (50:06 m). The trophy presentation was presided over in Plaza del Carmen, the scene for the continuation of the festivities with orchestras, by the Yaiza Councilor for Sports, Ángel Lago, who thanked the high participation of athletes and the public, announcing that in 2026 there will be categories for boys and girls by age groups, although until now the youngest athletes enjoy the short distance of 1.6 kilometers.
The bulk of the athletes in the Music Run Night registered for the intermediate 5-kilometer distance, a course through the center of Playa Blanca that is popular for being fast despite the occasional uphill stretch that punishes the legs. The top performers in the 5 km were Hugo Pérez (18:01 m) and Enea Cuccetti (20:35), and the winners in the 1.6 km were Uways el Maymouni (5:34 m) and Iballa Rodríguez (6:10 m), also setting a very high pace"The Playa Blanca Music Run Night closes Yaiza's 2025 sports calendar, and we are already preparing to experience a new season of challenges and emotions with events from different disciplines starting from the very beginning of 2026, without forgetting, of course, our support for young talent through the Sports Schools program," concludes councilor Ángel Lago, who represented the City Council in the company of councilors Daniel Medina, Beatriz Vázquez, Silvia Santana, and Rubén Arca
