The judoka Alberto Gaitero has visited Lanzarote to present black belt diplomas to young athletes on the island. The Valladolid native is one of the most recognized judokas in our country, which has led him to win two medals in the European Judo Championship, silver in 2022 and bronze in 2021, in the -66 kg category. In addition, he participated in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
In addition, Gaitero also gave a series of talks this Monday to transmit high-performance sports and the importance of training and studies at those levels. The event, held at the Costa Teguise Judo Club, was also attended by the Minister of Sports of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Juan Monzón.
Alejandro Ramírez, director of the Lanzarote club, has stated that "the visit of the Olympic athlete has served to highlight the values of sport and what it means to study and train when you are sponsored by the EEC and the harshness of having our relatives far away because in the first years this situation becomes a bit big".
Ramírez has also emphasized "the importance of not getting frustrated when you don't reach the goals that we set for ourselves and not getting carried away when you are at the top either".
