Nete Armas and Miguel Bethencourt, winners of the Canary Islands Snipe Cup

The Canarian Snipe Circuit held its second event of the season this past weekend, with the development in the bay of Santa Cruz de Tenerife of the Canary Islands Cup. The sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife were the main protagonists of the event, conquering Nete Armas and Miguel Bethencourt the title of champions of the Canary Islands Cup and Pedro de León and Oscar Pattenden achieving third place. In addition, Pedro Ferrer and Yaimur Hernández were proclaimed champions of the Grand Master category.

The Canary Islands Snipe Cup gathered 36 teams in Tenerife, on a weekend marked by demanding sailing conditions. The Royal Nautical Club of Arrecife was widely represented in the second event of the season of the Canary Islands Snipe Circuit, with the presence of up to eight teams, occupying the top positions in the classification.

Nete Armas and Miguel Bethencourt showed great consistency throughout the six races disputed on Saturday and Sunday. The Lanzarote sailors tipped the title of champions of the Canary Islands Snipe Cup to their side in the last race, crossing the finish line as first classified and leading by three positions the Gran Canaria sailors Fernando León and Antonio del Castillo-Olivares.

Pedro de León and Oscar Pattenden finished on Saturday as provisional leaders of the general classification, after claiming victory in two of the three races disputed. On Sunday they achieved a ninth, second, and sixth position, finally placing themselves in the third position of the podium of the Canary Islands Snipe Cup.

Up to five teams from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife were placed among the top eight classified. Miguel Ángel Lasso and Alejandro Martín classified in sixth position, Rafael Lasso and Cristian Sánchez were seventh, and Miguel Ángel Naverán and Lucho Hernández occupied the eighth place. Additionally, Pedro Ferrer and Yaimur Hernández achieved the title of champions of the Grand Master category.

The president of the Royal Nautical Club of Arrecife, Julio Romero, congratulates all participants for their effort and sportsmanship, and especially Nete Armas and Miguel Bethencourt, brand new champions of the Canary Islands Snipe Cup.
