The bay of Arrecife became the epicenter of regional sailing this past weekend, with the celebration of the Canary Islands Championship of the 420 class, which brought together 14 crews from Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, and Palma de Mallorca for two days of competition.

The event organized by the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife was marked by demanding sailing conditions on the racecourse. Miguel Padrón and Luis Mesa, members of the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria, were crowned champions of the Canary Islands.

The Canary Islands 420 Championship this weekend featured the participation of Marta Mansito, a sailor who has twice been crowned World Champion in Optimist, and who sailed alongside María Sánchez. Also noteworthy was the presence of an invited crew from the Balearic Islands, made up of Amalia Coll and Laia Matos. Representing the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife were Pedro Medina-Pedro de Armas, Coromoto Rodríguez-Anais Mestres, and Alejandro Martín-Ariane Muñoz.

On Saturday, the wind blew from the north with a steady intensity of 15-16 knots and gusts reaching 22 to 25 knots. The Race Committee was able to schedule four races, one more than initially planned, and Lanzarote's Pedro Medina and Pedro de Armas concluded the day **in sixth place overall**, tied on points with the fifth-place finisher.

On Sunday, wind and sea conditions changed, and only one of the scheduled races of the Canary Islands 420 Championship could be held. The crew formed by Miguel Padrón and Luis Mesa (RCNGC) was proclaimed Canary Islands champion, achieving victory in the only race held on Sunday. The podium was completed by the second place of Miguel Méndez and Natalia Méndez (RCNGC) and the third position of Pedro Scherschinski and Kai Kang (RCNGC).

Pedro Medina and Pedro de Armas suffered a disqualification in Sunday's race, and finished the Canary Islands 420 Championship in eighth place overall. The female crew of Coromoto Sánchez-Anais Mestres and the mixed crew of Alejandro Martín-Ariane Muñoz, finished in eleventh and twelfth place overall, respectively.

At the conclusion of Sunday's only regatta, the trophy ceremony for the Canary Islands 420 Championship took place at the facilities of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, attended by Estanislao Bethencourt, commodore of the club, and Juan José Roa, a club director.
