The waters of Arrecife de Lanzarote were the scene this past weekend of the third edition of the Asailor Trophy 2025 for the International Wing Foil Class, an event that brought together 27 sailors and that is once again consolidating itself as a benchmark in the nautical calendar.

The trophy, with special historical value as it is possibly the first of its kind since its creation in 2021, was sponsored by ASailor and organized by the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife (RCNA). The event was also supported by the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote, Naviera Armas – Trasmediterránea and the institutional support of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the Insular Sports Service, European Sport Destination, the Arrecife City Council, as well as companies such as Gran Hotel Arrecife, CICAR and Juan Toledo – Renault.

From the first day, Manuel Morillo Fiestas, a sailor from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, set the pace of the competition, winning the first six races, an performance that allowed him to steer the victory from the initial stages. Despite the efforts of his direct rivals, the Frenchman Nöe Mercier, Alfredo González (Club de Mar Puerto Calero) and Pablo Lecouey (Club Windsurfing Los Charcos), Morillo's dominance was overwhelming.

The excitement increased in the penultimate race, when an off-line by the leader opened the door to his pursuers. Alfredo González, second in that race, and Nöe Mercier, eighth, managed to close the gap and left open the possibility of a tight finish. However, in the final race, Morillo Fiestas signed a seventh position that, despite Mercier's partial victory and González's second place, confirmed his supremacy in the general. A previous off-line by Lecouey ended up reducing his chances of a podium finish.

The closing ceremony, which was attended by Roberto Herbón representing the Arrecife City Council and directors of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, included an emotional recognition of Pablo Padilla, promoter of the Wing Foil Class, who received the “True ASailor” award. Subsequently, the youth academy also had a prominent place in the honors, with the RCNA sailor Luisa Lemes receiving the trophy for winner of the Sub14 category; and also presenting the awards in the Sub16 category. The winner was David Urbín, accompanied on the podium by Anais Mestre (RCNA), second and best female, and Pedro Arce (Club Windsurfing los Charcos), third.

The final podium was formed by Manuel Morillo Fiestas, who was proclaimed absolute winner of the ASailor Trophy 2025 with 13 points, accompanied by Nöe Mercier (20 points) and Alfredo González (21 points).

With this edition, the ASailor Trophy once again demonstrates the potential of Wing Foil as a discipline on the rise and reinforces the commitment of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife and its sponsors to maintain Lanzarote as the epicenter of international sailing.
