Magec Tías Lanzarote Against Gender Violence could not have started its return to the Liga Femenina 2 any better. The Lanzarote team debuted this Saturday in front of their fans with a 69-59 victory against Spar Gran Canaria, in a match in which the home team managed to overcome absences and maintain control of the scoreboard for a good part of the game.

Màrius Bonjorn's team faced the match with a squad conditioned by the absences of Yaiza García and Joana Ferreira, both injured, as well as Tatyanna Burke, who has not yet arrived on the island. Despite these difficulties, Magec Tías Lanzarote came out from the first minute determined to compete and found in defensive intensity and dominance of the rebound two of its main arguments.

The start was especially positive for the home team, who achieved a 10-0 run that forced the Spar Gran Canaria coach to call his first timeout. After the restart, the forces began to balance, with prominence for the interior play of both teams. Magec Tías Lanzarote, however, was more successful in capturing rebounds and managed to maintain a significant lead at the end of the first quarter, which ended 24-16.

The second period was marked by a slower scoring pace. The Gran Canaria team adjusted its defense and reduced the offensive options for the Lanzarote players, who continued to seek a good part of their points near the basket. In this scenario, Carolina Mateo took prominence, comfortable in the offensive facet and capable of taking advantage of the previous work of her teammates in building plays.

Magec Tías maintained the initiative and managed to slightly extend their lead before halftime, which was reached with a score of 40-28.

After the break, one of the best versions of the Lanzarote team appeared. Màrius Bonjorn's players raised their intensity again and found fluidity in their game, reaching a maximum difference of 22 points that seemed to definitively guide the match.

Spar Gran Canaria did not give up and took advantage of the home team's overconfidence to begin to close the gap. The yellow team found spaces and progressively reduced the disadvantage, although Magec Tías Lanzarote managed to close the third quarter still with a 14-point lead, 58-44.

The last period forced the Lanzarote team to manage the accumulated advantage. The fatigue caused by the effort made and the circumstances of the squad led the home team to adopt a more conservative approach. Magec Tías Lanzarote opted to extend their possessions and seek long attacks, trying to consume as much time as possible before looking for shooting options.

Spar Gran Canaria took advantage of this situation to close the gap on the scoreboard, especially during the final minutes, and at times even cast doubt on the tranquility with which the home team had approached the match. However, the Lanzarote team managed to maintain their composure in the decisive stretch and ended up securing a 69-59 victory.

In this way, Magec Tías Lanzarote Contra la Violencia de Género adds its first triumph of the season in its return to competition, after a match in which it had to overcome absences and manage different phases of dominance and opponent reaction.

The Lanzarote team will now face its first away game of the season. The next match will take Magec Tías Lanzarote to Madrid, where they will face DPES CB Ciudad de Móstoles, in a new commitment in the Liga Femenina 2.
