Magec Tías Basketball - Basket Almeda

Magec Tías Lanzarote Against Gender Violence continues its excellent season in the Women's League 2 after defeating Basket Almeda last weekend by 72-65, thus achieving its eleventh victory of the year. This triumph marks an important step towards achieving new goals. The team is now focused on matching its record of victories in the competition and finishing the season in a privileged position.

The match, played on Saturday at the Municipal Pavilion of Tías, began with a clear local dominance. Despite the rival team's attempts to counteract the Lanzarote team's offense, Magec Tías Lanzarote showed its superiority in all aspects of the game. With the outstanding presence of Iranzu Drake and the support of players such as Yaiza García, Verónica Matoso, and Tania González, the locals overwhelmed the visitors in the first quarter, achieving a 22-17 lead.

Despite some initial problems finding clear shots from the three-point line, the Magec Tías players found quick solutions through penetrations into the paint, filtered passes, and effective counterattacks. Good defensive work was also key, forcing Basket Almeda to look for long-range shots with a low success rate. At halftime, the score reflected a 37-33 lead for the local team, with a sense of control on the insular bench.

The third quarter was decisive for the development of the match. Although Carlota Díaz-Guerra, a Basket Almeda player, improved her performance in the second half, Magec Tías Lanzarote displayed a balanced and constant offense. The variety of offensive alternatives offered by coach Jesús García, added to the continuous rotations, were elements that disconcerted the rival defense. Thus, the insular team closed the third quarter with a 58-49 lead, maintaining calm and effectively managing the pace of the game.

The last quarter, although more relaxed, was a formality for the Lanzarote team, who knew how to manage the time and maintain the lead without jeopardizing the victory. Despite the desperate attempts of Basket Almeda, with up to 38 three-point shots, the Magec Tías players did not get carried away by the pressure and managed to close the match with a solid 72-65 victory.

With this victory, Magec Tías Lanzarote Against Gender Violence remains on a streak of five consecutive victories and is consolidated as the most in-form team in the Women's League 2. It currently occupies the eighth position, tied with Náutico de Tenerife and Ciudad de Móstoles. The next match for the team will be against Ciudad de Móstoles, which will be played on Saturday, April 5 at the Municipal Pavilion of Tías.
