Club Deportivo Magec Tias Contra la Violencia de Género was proclaimed champion of the Canary Islands after defeating Club Deportivo Adareva 54 to 64 in an intense match where the Tenerife team knew how to defend well one of the main weapons of the Lanzarote team, the inside game.
The red and black team managed to get ahead on the scoreboard at the beginning of the match, but soon the locals knew how to defend the inside game of the local team well and managed to put the Aday Villalba team in real trouble.
After a time-out requested by him, the match was tied and in the last moments a triple scored by Nereida Bermúdez gave Magec Tias the possibility of finishing ahead in the quarter with a score of 14 to 15.
At the beginning of the second quarter, Adareva managed to stop the visitors well, who in 7 minutes were only able to score one point, with the Lanzarote coach calling a time-out with the score at 24 to 16. With the return to the court, things were changing and Magec Tias was back in the game, ending the quarter and reaching the half-time break with the score at 26 to 23.
It remained to be seen whether the local team would be able to maintain the defensive intensity in the second half and whether Magec Tias would be able to find the aim in the outside shot.
After a rather hesitant return to the court where the local team made a partial of 6 to 0 and where the Lanzarote coach was forced to call a time-out, his team reacted and gradually reduced the differences on the scoreboard until reaching 39 to 35, which forced the Tenerife bench to call the first time-out of the match.
The visiting team began to believe in their possibilities and at the end of the third quarter the score was 42 to 37.
The last quarter started with a lot of strength for Magec Tias, who managed to make a partial of 13 to 0, highlighting in that time a triple by Marta Moreno, a block by Yaiza García and a basket by Sadalia Ellis, which served to break the game.
The Tenerife team was touched and the differences on the scoreboard were widening in favor of Magec Tias, who with a triple with just over 2 minutes left left the score at 48 to 60, forcing Adareva to call a time-out to look for emergency solutions.
These solutions did not arrive and Magec Tias managed to win the match with a final score of 54 to 64. With this victory, the team coached by Aday Villalba not only won the match but also the title of the Canary Islands and the possibility of fighting for promotion to the category that will take place from May 19 in Almería.
