The CD Magec Tías, through its inclusive teams, was present at the launch of the fourth edition of the Baloncesto Sin Límites Plátano de Canarias league, the first federated competition in the country for athletes with intellectual disabilities and mental health-related illnesses. The event, which had the support of Plátano de Canarias and the Canary Islands Basketball Federation, took place at the Pabellón Oasis in Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura.
The day brought together the Green Group for Intellectual Disability, which faced a new training session with the participation of five of the six teams that make up this category.
Among them were Toyota Adareva, CD Addin Basket, Magec Tías Inclusivo Rojo, Magec Tías Inclusivo Negro, Gran Canaria Proyecto Suma, and the host, Gran
Canaria Proyecto Suma Fuerteventura.
The activities began at 10:30 AM, leading to a morning marked by camaraderie, excitement, and sports practice, where the value of basketball as a tool for social inclusion and personal development was once again highlighted.
The CD Magec Tías teams had an active participation in this season opener. The Magec Tías Inclusivo Rojo played two matches: the first against CD Addin Basket and the second against Gran Canaria Proyecto Suma 3 Fuerteventura. For their part, the Magec Tías Inclusivo Negro faced Gran Canaria Proyecto Suma 1 and Toyota Adareva, with both teams completing a valuable competitive experience.
The event's organization, supported by institutions and entities committed to inclusive sports, allowed participants to enjoy a safe, respectful, and stimulating space, consolidating an initiative that continues to grow season after season. This is the first time the Plátano de Canarias Limitless Basketball League has come to Fuerteventura, in a clear commitment by the Canary Islands Basketball Federation to bring limitless basketball to all islands.
After concluding the training camp, the Lanzarote expedition began their journey home with the satisfaction of having had an enriching experience and with the enthusiasm to participate again in the next event on the calendar. CD Magec Tías thus reaffirms its commitment to inclusive sport and the holistic development of its athletes, maintaining its active presence in a league that is already a national benchmark.
