The Maeña 9, helmed by Andrés Martín Monje Batista, was proclaimed this Saturday the absolute champion of the XV César Manrique Trophy for Cruisers, after a second day in which two races were held off the beaches of El Reducto. The competition began at 11:00 AM, with Northeast wind conditions of 18 knots, which allowed the two scheduled races to be completed.

Maeña 9, from the Real Club Náutico de Tenerife, confirmed its great performance during the Trophy and finished at the top of the absolute classification, ahead of Macaco, by Lucio Pérez Aranaz, and Cachito, by Augusto Escolar, who completed the podium.

By groups, Macaco took the victory in 0-3, accompanied on the podium by Cachito, second, and Teguise Lanzarote Sailing Paradise, helmed by Alejandro Morales Quintana, third. In group 4, the triumph went to Maeña 9, followed by Manitu, by Pedro J. Rodríguez, and Altamar I, by Francisco Curbelo.

Teguise Lanzarote Sailing Paradise staged a remarkable comeback during the Trophy. After being penalized with an off-line in the first race, which affected its classification, Alejandro Morales Quintana's boat reacted strongly and was able to recover positions to finish third in its group, thus completing a notable comeback and reaching the final podium.

The closing ceremony included the awards ceremony for the top three finishers in each group, as well as the traditional red lantern, which in this edition corresponded to the boat Marra. The awards were presented by Juan Monzón, counselor of the Insular Sports Service of the Cabildo de Lanzarote; Davinia Deniz, councilor for the Environment of the Arrecife City Council; Julio Romero, president of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife; and José Calero, president of Calero Marinas.

The day concluded with the social component that characterizes the Trophy, with a barbecue for the crews and a performance by the local group Kerala, putting a festive end to the competition.

The XV César Manrique Trophy is organized by the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife and Calero Marinas, with Marina Lanzarote as the host port, and is part of the High-Level Canary Circuit. The event is sponsored by the Cabildo de Lanzarote, through its Tourism and Sports departments, the Arrecife City Council and the Sports Department of the Arrecife City Council, and with the collaboration of Cicar, Balearia, and Hotel Miramar.
