The Canary Islands Championship - Canary Islands Day of Optimist took place in the town of Puerto Rico, in Gran Canaria, and the two days of competition were marked by the low intensity of the wind. Finally, only three qualifying races could be held, one on Friday and two on Saturday. The competition was attended by 110 sailors from all over the archipelago.

Lola Carrión Morales starred in a great first day, being eleventh in the only race held on Friday. In the two races on Saturday, the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife sailor occupied the 36th position in the first race and the 19th in the second. These results placed her as the second best classified in the sub'13 female category, third in the sub'13 category and occupied the 14th position overall.

In a fairly even competition, several of the sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife sneaked into the top twenty. This was the case of Carmen Presa Heredia, who occupied the 16th position overall, and her brother Gonzalo Presa Heredia was in the 20th position overall.

The president of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, Julio Romero, and the Board of Directors wish to congratulate Lola Carrión for "the excellent performance in the Canary Islands Championship - Canary Islands Day of Optimist". Congratulations that he extends to the rest of the optimist team members who have been sailing in Gran Canaria this weekend.
