Lionel Morales continues his preparation for the Paris Paralympic Games and this weekend he achieved third place in the Swansea World Series, the penultimate event
scoring for the qualifying ranking for the Paris Games, in which the triathlete from Lanzarote already has a place.
Morales, completely focused on the Olympic event, continues to burn stages and complete his preparation. The triathlete from Lanzarote achieved a time of 1:11.10 in Welsh territory, which allowed him to climb to the third step of the podium. The gold in Swansea in PTS2 (athletes with severe physical disabilities who compete standing), was won by the American Mohamed Lahna and the silver by the Dutchman Maurits Morsink.
The sensations continue to improve heading to Paris. After finishing the race in Wales, Lionel Morales explained that "the sensations are very good. I finished third here, it seems that things are difficult to get a place for Paris, but I, on a personal level, the sensations are very good, both in swimming, cycling and running. I'm still losing a little more time than my rivals in the transitions, but it has improved compared to the last races after the latest changes introduced. Now we have two months to improve heading to Paris, to get in shape like never before," concludes the triathlete from Lanzarote.
Paris is getting closer and closer on the calendar and all the steps that Lionel Morales has been taking in recent months have the city of the Eiffel Tower in mind. "We are trying to do things, preparing those Olympics consciously. I'm happy. I continue to improve in the transition, which has been the Achilles heel this season after changing my prosthesis. Now it's time to keep fighting, destiny is written, it's time to continue preparing with all my strength, mentally and physically, for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games," concludes Morales, who has an unavoidable appointment with his dreams in Paris on September 1.
