The town of El Cuchillo, in the municipality of Tinajo, hosted on Sunday morning a new edition of the Relay Trail "El Cuchillo 2016". A unique mountain race that is disputed in pairs, each member of the team having to complete a lap of the 8.5 kilometer course. Good atmosphere among all the participants, who enjoyed a sporting morning and completing a demanding course due to the accumulated unevenness. "Lecracks", "Chica&Chica&Tormenta" and "Volcanes" were the winning teams in the men's, women's and mixed categories, respectively.
From early in the morning, the participants of the second edition of the Relay Trail "El Cuchillo 2016" gathered in El Cuchillo. The youngest were the first to compete, with the organizers designing a 400-meter course for the young runners. Under the watchful eye of parents and relatives, the children completed the course. All participants received a small trophy that accredited their participation in the event.
At 11:00 am the rest of the categories were started, although before the start there was a collective training by Tatiana Niz. Half a hundred teams took the start in the II Relay Trail "El Cuchillo 2016", with an individual course of 8.5 kilometers and completing a total distance of 17 kilometers. Each member of the team had to pass the baton to his partner at the finish line.
In the men's category, the winning team was "Lecracks" formed by Aitor Navarro and León Martín Drajer, completing the course in 1 hour, 15 minutes and 41 seconds. The second place on the finish line was for "Cabrera Trail" composed of Fernando Pérez and Tanausú Cabrera with a record of 1:20:10. And the podium was completed with the third position of "Vegan Paleo" integrated by Alejandro Álvarez and Carlos García, with a time of 1:22:16.
"Chica&Chica&Tormenta" was the winning team in the women's category, composed of Pia Cadenasso and Gloria Cuéllar, who completed the 17-kilometer course in 1 hour, 48 minutes and 11 seconds. They were more than three minutes ahead of "Cabritas Solidarias", the second team on the finish line and composed of Patricia Fernández and Carmen Dolores Rodríguez (1:51:56). And the third place on the podium was for "Paleotías", formed by Jennifer García and Fayna Pérez (1:52:41).
The II Relay Trail "El Cuchillo 2016" was also held in the mixed category. A category that was won by "Volcanes", a team composed of Sergio Machín and Nuria Muñoz, completing the course in 1 hour, 29 minutes and 12 seconds. The second position would be for "Los Chapaletas 2.0" formed by Rudy Crespo and María Pilar Sosa (1:30:36). And the third position would be for "Los Tetas", composed of Domingo Vilavert and Lilly Mcnabb (1:33:31).
The team "Bergantin" formed by José Luis Luzardo and Elena Sánchez, received the "Butter Knife" as they were the last couple to cross the finish line of the race. A trophy with which they wanted to reward the effort of the participants, encouraging them to participate in the next edition to improve their personal bests.
The second edition of the Relay Trail "El Cuchillo 2016", organized by the El Cuchillo Festival Committee on the occasion of the Festivals of Nuestra Señora del Pilar and with the support of the Department of Sports of the City Council of Tinajo, had a charitable character. Part of the money raised from registrations will be donated to the Spanish Association Against Cancer.
