The Lanzarote Badminton Racket Club brought its 2025 season to a close last weekend, December 20th and 21st, by participating in the Granollers Territorial Master, held at the Municipal Pavilion of El Congost, in Catalan territory.
The Lanzarote club was represented in the U-13 and U-17 categories by players Manuel Cabrera and Eduardo Curbelo, who competed at a high level in one of the last important events on the national calendar.
In the U-13 category, Manuel Cabrera delivered a magnificent performance despite competing in a higher age group, a key experience for the upcoming season. It is worth remembering that the player was runner-up in the Canary Islands U-11 category this very season.
In his first match, he faced Maksem Sergeev, losing 16-21 and 10-21. In the second round, he played against Guillén Navas, with a result of 10-21 and 18-21, who would later be proclaimed runner-up of the Master. In his third and final match, Manuel faced Joel Hernando, losing 14-21 and 11-21, leaving very good feelings on the court.
For his part, Eduardo Curbelo had an excellent tournament in the U-17 category, reaching the Master final. In his debut, he decisively defeated Hugo Durán 21-14 and 21-7. In the semifinals, he faced Mario Fuentes, whom he managed to beat 21-18 and 21-11, thus securing his place in the final. In the decisive match, Eduardo played a very close final against Pau Amaya, in which, despite his great effort, he could not clinch victory, falling 21-16 and 21-15. With this result, Eduardo took home the silver medal, closing an outstanding season in which he has achieved a total of four medals: three silver and one gold.
With this competition, the Lanzarote Raqueta Club de Bádminton closes the year 2025 with a very positive balance, reaping magnificent results in all categories and confirming the good work being done from the grassroots.
