Lanzarote has been proclaimed winner of the Canary Islands School Age Chess Championship 2024, in the cadet category. The island has been the winner, in the school championship that has been held this weekend at the H10 Taburiente hotel in Breña Baja on the beautiful island.
The team formed by Julius Pleschke, Joel Ascensión, Katherina Bangiev, Nahom Manso, Xingying You and Naiara Medina and led by Antonio Vera took the victory. Seven tough rounds in which the Lanzaroteños clung to their boards and put all the effort and preparation they had behind them, making a great tournament each of the displaced components.
In addition, in the cadet category, Julius Pleschke was first in the Men's category and Katharina Bangiev second in the Women's category. The rest of the members of this category, Joel Ascension was in seventh place, Nahom Manso in eighteenth position, Xingying You in twenty-fourth position, Naiara Medina in twenty-fifth position.
In the children's category, the Lanzarote players also had a great tournament, finishing in seventh place Gonzalo Capriotti, Santiago Parra in fourteenth position, Kiaan Sajnani in twentieth position, Alicia Pulido in twenty-second, Valeria González in twenty-sixth and Valentina de la Hoz in twenty-sixth position.
