Lanzarote will host the World Sea Kayak Championship in July

Lanzarote will host the CF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships Lanzarote Isla de Los Volcanes, bringing together more than 1,000 canoeists from nearly fifty countries.

Next July, the world of canoeing will have a very important event in Lanzarote, as the island will host the World Sea Kayak Championship, called ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships Lanzarote Isla de Los Volcanes.

Precisely, this Tuesday the Minister of Sports of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Francisco Javier Aparicio, received Mario Santos, Chairman of Ocean Racing Committee and José María García, president of the Canarian Federation of Canoeing, to supervise the preparations for this World Championship that will receive, if the sanitary measures by the Covid-19 allow it, more than 1,000 canoeists, many of them elite, from about fifty countries around the world.

“Canoeing is a sport with a great future and Lanzarote not only has the best conditions for its practice but also has a proven experience in holding high-level sporting events and competitions”, said Councillor Francisco Javier Aparicio.

Thus, from the Cabildo of Lanzarote support the International Federation of Canoeing and the Canarian Federation in the organization of this championship that will be held from 1 to 7 July, which “will undoubtedly contribute to consolidate the prestige that Lanzarote has internationally in the sports field".

Finally, both Mario Santos and José María García thanked the Cabildo for its collaboration and willingness with the organizing committee of the Sea Kayak World Championship and stressed the “excellent qualities that the island of Lanzarote has to host this sporting event, a true paradise for canoeists and sea lovers”.
