The Lanzarote Raqueta Club has completed an intense and fruitful sporting week thanks to the participation of its young players in two important events: the Spanish U-11 Championship in Huelva and the Canarias TOP TTR El Rosario in Tenerife.
Vera García and Manuel Cabrera compete in the U-11 Spanish Championship
Players Vera García and Manuel Cabrera, accompanied by technician Inma Duarte, traveled to Huelva to compete in the U-11 Spanish Championship, held between November 20 and 23 at the Carolina Marín Sports Palace.
In the women's individual category, **Vera García** put on a brilliant performance. A victory against Candela Piedra (Andalusia) by 6-15 / 8-15, followed by a surprising win against Lucía Cerdá (Valencia), the current regional champion, by 15-8 / 15-8, and another positive result against Jimena Rodríguez (Balearic Islands) by 12-15 / 10-15. These victories allowed her to qualify for the round of 16, where she lost to Yua Fuche (Madrid) by 7-11 / 12-15, in a highly demanding matchIn the men's individual category, **Manuel Cabrera** opened his competition with a victory against the Galician Jorge Guimarey, by 15-8 / 7-15. However, in his second match, the player could not overcome Pablo López (Andalusia), who won with a score of 15-8 / 15-5, thus not having the possibility to advance to the round of 16.
Eduardo Curbelo wins two silvers at the Canarias TOP TTR El Rosario
In parallel, player Eduardo Curbelo shone at the Canarias TOP TTR El Rosario, held on Saturday the 22nd at the Leticia Batista Pavilion (El Rosario, Tenerife). The athlete from Arrecife delivered an outstanding performance, securing two silver medals and solidifying his position as one of the most prominent players on the Canary Islands scene.
Curbelo advanced with authority in the group stage, defeating David Cortés (Tenerife) (21-10, 21-8) and Weichen Xu (Tenerife) (21-9, 21-8) without dropping a single setIn the semifinals, he defeated Gerard Hernández 21-18 and 21-10, thus reaching the final, where he lost to Diego Pérez (Tenerife) after an intense matchIn the doubles category, paired with César Mateo Camejo (Club Pajaritos, Fuerteventura), they also achieved the runner-up position.
