Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen has been defeated (28-20) this Saturday, at the Municipal Pavilion of Boadilla del Monte in Madrid, against the local team Bm. Ikasa Boadilla in a match corresponding to the first day of the División de Honor Oro.
The tiñosa team was not in the game at any moment. The aurinegras did not start well on the Madrid court and the locals took a lead that would only grow with the passing minutes, allowing them to reach halftime with a seven-goal advantage. The Lanzarote squad improved somewhat after the break, even getting within two goals, but the errors returned, making any chance of victory impossible in the league debut for the tiñoseras.
Local player Laura De la Iglesia became the top scorer of the match with seven goals, well accompanied in the offensive facet by six goals from Alba López and five goals from Ariadna Molina. In Puerto del Carmen, three players scored four goals: Leticia Cobo, Martina Lemes, and Beatriz Masseu.
For the tiñosa coach, Jesús Casanova, it was "a game without a story. I think it was a bit conditioned because we couldn't rest properly, as we arrived at the hotel and they didn't let us in until three in the afternoon. I think, in a way, the defeat can serve as a cure for humility, to know where we are and to know that if we don't start switched on from minute one, we won't be able to win games. We hope this is just a warning and that we can improve in future matches," concludes Casanova.
CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen will debut at home in the Municipal de Tías next Saturday, October 3rd, at 7:30 PM, hosting Caja Rural Aula Valladolid, a team that in this first round defeated the other Lanzarote team in the group, San José Obrero (32-26), a match in which Sandra Monteagudo stood out for the Valladolid team with seven goals and two other players with five goals each, Carmen Fidalgo and Amaia González.
