Alonso Pérez is part of the Real Federación Canaria de Vela (Royal Canarian Sailing Federation) team this weekend, competing in the ILCA 6 Spanish Cup, a competition taking place in Mallorca. The Real Club Náutico de Arrecife sailor faces a new national competition, after competing in the ILCA 6 Spanish Championship held in Murcia in early February.

The ILCA 6 Spanish Cup is being held at the Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa facilities in Mallorca, and features the participation of 194 sailors from all over the country. Among the participants is Alonso Pérez, a Lanzarote sailor who has been training on the race course for several days with his teammates from the Real Federación Canaria de Vela.

This Thursday is dedicated to measurements and registration confirmation, and it will be on Friday morning when the nearly 200 participants enter into action. A total of 6 races have been scheduled, three on Friday and three on Saturday, for the qualifying rounds, in which the sailors will be divided into different groups. The best-placed sailors will advance to the final series on Sunday, a day on which three races have also been scheduled.

Alonso Pérez is experiencing an intense start to the year, and arrives at the ILCA 6 Spanish Cup after recently participating in the ILCA 6 Spanish Championship. The competition took place in February in the town of Los Alcázares, in Murcia. The Real Club Náutico de Arrecife sailor finished in 18th place overall and was the ninth-ranked in the under-19 category.

The president of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, Julio Romero, on behalf of all the club members, wishes Alonso Pérez the best of luck in the ILCA 6 Spanish Cup, and is proud that the club is once again represented in a top-level national competition.
