The Assembly Hall of the Cabildo de Lanzarote hosted the presentation of the Spanish U23 Badminton Championship. This event will be held for the first time on the Island this weekend, at the IES Cabrera Felipe facilities in Arrecife, where 54 island and international participants will compete.

The presentation ceremony was attended by the Minister of Sports of the Island Corporation, Juan Monzón; the president of the Canary Badminton Federation, Florentín Rodríguez, and the president and event director of Auria Badminton Club, Oliver Gausmann, in addition to the vice president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina.

The Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón, highlighted "a sports modality that in Lanzarote has more than 500 federative licenses. This meeting will help to position our island on the international sports calendar," he said and assured that he was convinced that "it will become a successful experience and an attraction for Lanzarote to become a favorite location for other events," he confirmed.

He also recalls that "the Island Sports Service has acquired material to ensure the success of badminton competitions in Lanzarote."

"This material will be lent to the Cabildo de Tenerife in the coming months to host a new Spanish Badminton Championship in the Canary Islands, thus promoting the practice of this discipline," stressed Juan Monzón.

The competition will begin this Friday, November 22, from 3:30 p.m., with the first two elimination rounds. On Saturday, November 23, at 10:00 a.m., the quarter-final and semi-final matches will be played, and on Sunday, November 24, the finals of the men's singles, women's singles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles categories will be held.

The Cabildo de Lanzarote reinforces its commitment to promoting national and international championships that allow recognition of island talent and discipline.
