On Friday afternoon, the youngest of the island were the protagonists in the Lanzarote Famara Total, an event that stood out for its festive and sporting atmosphere. The day began with a warm-up session to the rhythm of zumba, which not only attracted the kids, but also the adults who enjoyed the music and exercise.
The event continued with the expected races. For security reasons, the departures were organized by age, allowing all the registered children to participate without crowds. The youngest ran along the beach before crossing the finish line, while the older ones completed a route along the avenue, also passing through the beach and ending at the finish line.
With approximately 200 participants, the quarry of trails in Lanzarote proved to be more alive than ever. Each race was attended by professional runners such as Yoel de Paz and Ione Guerra, among others, who sponsored the children. Precisely these two athletes recently stood out in the Famara Total Vertical Nocturna by European Sports Destination, being first and second overall.
At the finish line were Olivia Duque, mayor of Teguise, and Alejandro Ramírez, councilor for Sports of the City Council of Teguise, who did not stop encouraging the little ones to achieve their dream of crossing the finish line. They were in charge of giving the medals to each of the children who participated
The event will conclude this Saturday with the main event of the Famara Total. The day will begin at 07:00 hours with the departure of the 50 and 25 kilometer races. At 8:30 it will be the turn of the 15 kilometer, 7.5 kilometer distances and the hiking modality, with the runners having a group warm-up half an hour before. The day will end with the awards ceremony and a musical celebration.
The Lanzarote Famara Total continues to demonstrate that it is not only a competition, but a trail party that unites the community and encourages the participation of all ages, ensuring a promising future for trails on the island.
