Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team, the Spanish representative in the 44Cup, has concluded the World Championship held in Scheveningen after four days of extreme conditions in the North Sea, with gusts exceeding 35 knots and a highly demanding race course.

In this scenario, the team secured a fifth place in one of the toughest legs of the championship, as well as several first-place windward mark roundings, confirming that, with some adjustments, they can sail at the same pace as the leading teams and consolidate their progress in the class.

The owner, Daniel Calero, assessed the experience as follows:

“With some adjustments and racing in Canary waters, we see the possibility of making a great end to the season. Having been in such a demanding championship and achieving a fifth place in a key leg shows us that we are getting closer and closer to the top. The team continues to grow and learn.”

The Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team develops this project with the support of Turismo de Lanzarote and the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, together with Calero Marinas and Calmar as strategic partners. In addition, it has EquipYacht and

Alegra Travels in the provision of equipment and logistics, and with the technical support of Harken, Gottifredi Maffioli, North Sails and Magic Marine, as well as the international sponsorship of Lanzarote Investment and John D. Wood & Co.

The 2025 season will conclude in Marina Jandía, Fuerteventura, from November 19 to 23, the new sports marina of Calero Marinas, where the Spanish team hopes to take advantage of its accumulated experience to achieve its best result of the year.
