UD Lanzarote came back in the match against Unión Viera (2-3)

UD Lanzarote never lost sight of a match that had become uphill, seeing how the opponent took the lead on the scoreboard on two occasions and having to play the last thirty minutes of the match with a numerical disadvantage. Confidence was never lacking, being enough to turn the score around and bring the three points from Gran Canaria. The red team, in white on Saturday afternoon, won 2-3 against Unión Viera. A victory that allows UD Lanzarote to consolidate in second place in the standings and increase the difference with respect to the fifth-placed team.

The match started in an unfortunate way for UD Lanzarote. Unión Viera took the lead in the 13th minute of the first half, in an unlucky action for the visiting defense. Francis Hernández tried to clear a good cross from Yared from the wing, the ball made a strange parabola and would end up beating goalkeeper Agoney next to the right post.

UD Lanzarote reacted and soon equalized the score. Toñito was in charge of executing a free kick, Rosmen rose and with a great header sent the ball into the back of the net of Unión Viera's goal. Before this action, UD Lanzarote claimed a possible penalty, when Toñito fell in front of goalkeeper Li.

It only took Unión Viera four minutes to take the lead again. Yared executed a corner kick, he did it with force and with the necessary effect to beat the visiting goalkeeper and achieve a beautiful Olympic goal.

Until the end of the first half, the chances followed one another in one and another goal. Falo, with a header, and Rosmen, with his right leg, had two good chances to equalize the score again. Unión Viera also had a chance with an opportunity from Cesáreo, the ball ending up inside the goal, the action being disallowed for offside of the local player. With the score of 2 to 1, the first half came to an end.

UD Lanzarote had to face a good part of the second half with a numerical disadvantage. Falo saw two yellow cards in a row, being sent off in the 60th minute of the match. It was not a problem for UD Lanzarote to achieve the tie in the 68th minute. A long throw by goalkeeper Agoney was taken advantage of by Toñíto to get behind the defense and with a tight shot put the equalizer on the scoreboard.

UD Lanzarote was not satisfied with the draw and was able to create a lot of danger on the counterattack. Precisely in a counterattack play came the winning goal. Toñito stood in front of goalkeeper Li, gave way for the arrival of Kennedy and he, with an empty goal, made the definitive 2 to 3.

Unión Viera also suffered an expulsion in the 88th minute of the match, with Ramón seeing the direct red card. The locals looked for the equalizing goal, with Yared and Peraza having chances to put the equalizer on the scoreboard. Mauri could have sealed the match on the counter, although he was not successful in the final meters.

Hard-fought victory for UD Lanzarote by 2 to 3 against Unión Viera, which allows the red team to consolidate in the second place of the standings and get one point behind the leader, CD Marino. The next matchday in the Canarian group of the Third Division will be marked by the Lanzarote derby between UD Lanzarote and Unión Sur Yaiza.
