Juan Carlos Vallejo and Patricia Agüera win the Travesía Playas de Papagayo Dreams Lanzarote Playa Dorada

The waters of southern Lanzarote were the protagonists of an event that united sport, inclusion, landscape and solidarity. Yaiza confirms its leadership in the celebration of events of interest that mix sport and tourism.

The municipality of Yaiza celebrated this Saturday the fourteenth edition of the Travesía Playas de Papagayo Dreams Lanzarote Playa Dorada organized by the B15 Association with the support of the Yaiza City Council, a very participatory event with its epicenter in the tourist town of Playa Blanca that once again merged, and in what way, sport, inclusion, landscape and solidarity, in the crystalline waters of southern Lanzarote, where the swimmers Juan Carlos Vallejo 'Kimbo' and Patricia Agüera Fernández stood out in the competitive section, winning the queen distance of 7 km, both from Asturias, although Vallejo has lived in Lanzarote for two years.

From the early hours of the morning, the registered swimmers gathered at the Marina Rubicón Sports Port with enthusiasm and nervousness, ready to embark to the starting point. At 9:20 a.m., the 7 km participants started from the water, in front of Playa Mujeres, a distance that this year attracted those looking for a greater challenge. The route included views of the Los Ajaches Natural Monument and its impressive Papagayo beaches. The municipality of Yaiza confirms its leadership in the celebration of events of interest that mix sport and tourism.

The first to reach the finish line at Playa Dorada was Juan Carlos Vallejo 'Kimbo', from CN Vulcania, with a time of 1:42:45 hours, while Javier Segura and Aldo Gutiérrez followed him, stopping the clock at 1:48:25 and 1:55:31 h, respectively. In the women's category, Patricia Agüera, from the Real Grupo de Cultura Covadonga, was the first to arrive with a time of 2:06:36 h, escorted by María Hijar (2:12:28) and Esperanza Navarro (2:19:04).

The 5 km competition began at 10:00 a.m., with the swimmers being transported by a boat from Líneas Romero, collaborators of the event. The fastest men in this distance were Matías Padrón (CN Nadamás) with a time of 1:08:57 h, followed by José Juan Aranda (1:10:26) and Aitor Hernández (1:19:01). In the women's category, Naira Jaén (CN Nadamás) took the victory with a time of 1:11:49 h, followed by Sarah Bonner (1:24:16) and Naira Pérez (1:24:21).

Playa Dorada was the scene of shorter distance competitions, where Gustavo Lorenço won the 1,200 meters with a time of 13:04 minutes, while Natalia Sasu took the victory in the women's category, marking 14:04 m. The 400, 100 and 50 meter events provided moments of joy and camaraderie among the participants, and the 3x300 relay team was won by Los Tres Mosqueteros.
