The Latin sailing boats did not miss the appointment on the big day of the archipelago, with the celebration of the traditional Canary Islands Day Regatta, organized by the Insular Federation of Latin Sailing Boats of Lanzarote and sponsored by the Arrecife City Council, through the Tourism area.
The lack of wind conditioned the development of the regatta, finally contesting a coastal race that was not valid for the Insular League of 8.55 Meter Barquillos Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism of Lanzarote. El Graciosero, by Aythami Quintana, took the victory.
From early in the morning the wind blew with very little intensity in the bay of Arrecife, and also, the direction changed at every moment, which made it impossible
to establish a race course. After leaving from the La Pescadería Dock, the postponement flag was waved, with the Regatta Committee looking for a way to save the race.
Finally, it was decided to hold a coastal regatta and not being valid for the Insular League of 8.55 Meter Barquillos Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism of Lanzarote.
After almost an hour of postponement, the regatta started and it was the Villa de Teguise of Santiago González who was in charge of leading the race in the first upwind leg, followed by the Puerto del Arrecife of Manri Rodríguez and the Graciosero of Aythami Quintana. Behind, were the Maramajo of Andrea Stinga and the Volcán de la Corona of Pedro de León.
The positions changed in the downwind leg, with the Graciosero at the head of the fleet and followed by the Puerto del Arrecife, with the Villa de Teguise falling behind to third place. A situation that did not change, with the Graciosero increasing the distance with respect to the pursuers. The Volcán de la Corona retired and could not finish the race.
The victory in the Canary Islands Day Regatta was taken by the Graciosero of Aythami Quintana, with the second position for the Puerto del Arrecife of Manri Rodríguez, the third place for the Villa de Teguise of Santiago González and the fourth position for the Maramajo of Andrea Stinga. The awards ceremony put the finishing touch to the day at the Muelle de La
Pescadería, with the sailors enjoying traditional music and coastal noodles as food.

Insular Sports Service, and the Canary Federation of Latin Sailing Boats of the Canary Islands, and the sponsorship of the Arrecife City Council, through the Department of Tourism, and the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism of Lanzarote.
