The Club Deportivo Goire Rubiconense of Playa Blanca is now a reality. After much effort, the first women's football team in the municipality of Yaiza, begins its journey in the Lanzarote and Fuerteventura Women's Football 8 League. This Tuesday its presentation to the public took place, in an event, held at the THB Tropical Island hotel, in which the members of the squad, its technical staff and the club's directors were presented, in addition to the kits that the players will use during this season, inspired by landscape values of the southern municipality.
The team, which will be made up of 20 players aged between 13 and 18, has been formed step by step, as Ángel Cabrera Pérez, who will be president and coach of the sports entity, pointed out: “The team was born in September 2021, with only four girls. It is a Club that was born with a lot of hope and with a lot of sacrifice, quite a bit.”
Julia Cejudo, goalkeeper and second captain of the team, pointed out that “Goire Rubiconense represents, above all, overcoming and companionship, since it has cost us too much. There wasn't a women's club like this in Yaiza and taking the step to form it has been very difficult for us, but along the way we have met many people, new friends, and it has been an incredible experience.”
Óscar Noda, mayor of Yaiza, was present at the presentation ceremony and wanted to congratulate the players and each of the club's departments, guaranteeing “the continuity of municipal support and progress towards a more inclusive and egalitarian sport”, giving just value “to the commitment of private companies in our municipality that in this case have decisively opted for women's football represented in the Goire Rubiconense”. They are THB Tropical Island, DAK Carnicería, Restaurante Liken and Alberto Nuñez Tattoo.
Ángel Lago, Councilor for Sports of Yaiza, highlighted that “from the first moment we have been interested in the project. We have provided guidance in the constitution procedures and now with municipal subsidies, because we believe that supporting the women's team is supporting the sport and the values it transmits, but it is also helping to build a society that must continue to take giant steps towards true equality.”
The complete squad is made up of Daniela López Caraballo (first captain), Julia Cejudo Caraballo (second captain), Natalia Andrea Hurtado Lucumí, Isabella Valentina Vargas Moreno, Leila Hafda Milanova, Cristina Romina Ziu Delgadillo, Victoria del Carmen Santana López, Arianna Márquez Cobos, Melisa Goblet, Aitana Weisel Arron, Érika Castro de la Cruz, Daniela García Cabrera, Alexia de Ganzo Medina, Elizabeth Ximena Valladares Vegas, Daniela Dammann Osorio, Daniela Castro Pons, Jimena García Fraile, Laura García Fraile, Elisabeth Balmaceda Vasco and Claudia Patricia Martín Parra, all very young women who become part of the sporting history of Yaiza. Coach Ángel Cabrera is accompanied by Guillermo Gutiérrez Umpiérrez, David Gentil Carmona and Kiara Curbelo Camacho as assistants.
