It took a while, but it arrived. Jack Talbot's team now knows what it's like to win away from home, by beating the subsidiary of the Canaria Foundation of CD Tenerife by 1 to 2, a hard-fought victory that helps FC Puerto del Carmen to cut the bad run of results and gain a lot of confidence for the upcoming matches.
The match could not have started better for the Lanzarote team, who started with a lot of pressure on the central serve of the host team. The Canaria Foundation of CD Tenerife made three passes, but on the fourth Alicia managed to snatch the ball from her rival, gain speed on the full-back and shoot at goal, scoring the first goal of the match in just 41 seconds.
The Tiñoseras tried to impose pressure in the defensive zone, with individual marking in their own half and with ball closure by the attacking players, who were keen to do work to facilitate the recovery of the ball by their teammates, working together in all the lines.
In the last minutes of the first half came the goal of the Tenerife team, which had put its lines very high, while the Lanzarote team tried to open the field to take advantage of the speed of its attacking players. In these, a pass that could not be intercepted by the visiting team allowed the locals to enter on the right, ending with a shot from Ashley that beat Naza, putting the equalizer on the scoreboard.
Despite the goal conceded, the Lanzarote players came out with the same ideas that had led them to make a good first half, and as a result Ylenia's goal came in the 60th minute of the match.
The pressure meant that the game was played closer and closer to the goal of Lucía, former goalkeeper of FC Puerto del Carmen. Ylenia had a good shot from the edge of the area that took the direction of the goal, but the defense blocked the shot, falling again to the Lanzarote player. The second shot, a chip, did not have so much opposition and the goalkeeper of the Tenerife team could not stop it, entering the ball into the goal, going up on the scoreboard.
The carousel of changes of the local team was increasingly focused on having the ball and playing in the field of FC Puerto del Carmen, being forced Jack Talbot to have 5 defenders to stop the 4 attacking players that his counterpart raised in the opposing team. The last minutes touched to do containment work by the rojillas, who knew how to hold on and maintain the victory away from home, the first this season and something that had not happened since April 9, 2022, when they beat CD O. Marítima by 0 to 3.
Next week the Lanzarote team must visit the Camino de La Madera, to play, again as visitors, against Casa Pastores.
