Sara Diaz's Welcome

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, received the world and European champion of Precision Petanque Shooting, Sara Díaz.

The president conveyed her congratulations to the Lanzarote native, who last June was proclaimed European Precision Shooting champion, one of the modalities of the European Women's Petanque Championship, and who treasures more than 20 national and international championships representing the Canary Islands and Spain.

“It is always a pride to welcome Sara home, an example for the young people of Lanzarote when it comes to pursuing their dreams, practicing sports of this type and taking the name of the island to many places in our country and abroad,” said Dolores Corujo.

“From the Cabildo and from the island of Lanzarote, we wish Sara Díaz all the luck in future competitions and projects and we are convinced that she will continue to be a standard bearer for this discipline as until now,” concluded the president.

For his part, the Minister of Sports of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Alfredo Mendoza, conveyed his congratulations to the athlete “for a magnificent season in which she traveled to Palma de Mallorca, Algeria, Denmark and Torrelavega, where she won the gold medal at a European and world level, reaping up to six titles this season.”
